Sergio Elizondo has a diverse work experience spanning from 2002 to the present. Sergio'smost recent role is as a Senior Data Scientist at Ofgem, which they started in February 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Scientist at Upside Energy Ltd from July 2019 to January 2020, where they developed predictive analytics and portfolio optimization models for distributed energy resources. From July 2017 to July 2019, Sergio was a Data Scientist (KTP Associate) at Heriot-Watt University, focusing on similar tasks as their previous role. Sergio also held the position of a Post Graduate Researcher (PhD student) in Informatics, AI at The University of Edinburgh from October 2011 to December 2016, where they researched electronic market design and mechanisms for coordinating domestic demand response. Before pursuing their PhD, Sergio worked as an IT Consultant & Software Engineer at Global PCNet from February 2006 to December 2011. Sergio was responsible for requirements analysis and development of IT solutions. Prior to that, from June 2005 to January 2006, Sergio worked as an IT Business Process Analyst at DeAcero, where they analyzed and evaluated users' requirements. From June 2004 to June 2005, they were a Software QA Engineer at IIDEA-Solutions (DeAcero), conducting testing and validation of software functionality. Sergio's career began in January 2002 as a Supplemental Instruction Leader at Universidad de Monterrey, where they tutored programming and other related subjects.
Sergio Elizondo has an extensive education history. Sergio earned a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Systems Engineering (Software Development) from Universidad de Monterrey in 2005. In 2009, they pursued an MSc in Industrial and Systems Engineering, specializing in Supply Chain Management & Logistics, from the same institution, which they completed in 2011.
During their time as a graduate student, Sergio also had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge through an academic exchange program at the University of Houston for one semester in 2003, where they focused on Computer Science. After completing their MSc, Sergio pursued a PhD at The University of Edinburgh, specializing in Informatics with a focus on AI and Algorithmic Game Theory. Sergio successfully completed their PhD program in 2016.
In 2019, Sergio joined WorldQuant University to pursue an MSc in Financial Engineering, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
In addition to their formal education, Sergio has also obtained several certifications. Sergio became a Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals in September 2020. Sergio completed an AI for Trading Nanodegree Program by Udacity in July 2019. Sergio has also completed multiple Coursera courses, including the Functional Programming in Scala Capstone, Functional Programming in Scala Specialization, Big Data Analysis with Scala and Spark, Functional Program Design in Scala, Parallel programming, Functional Programming Principles in Scala, and Structuring Machine Learning Projects. These certifications and courses reflect their commitment to expanding their knowledge and expertise in various areas of interest.
