Derek Crowley

Derek Crowley is an experienced Training and Instructional Design Program Manager at Oglethorpe Power Corporation since May 2018, previously serving as a Combustion Turbine Technician. Prior to this role, Derek spent nearly six years in the US Navy, where positions included Nuclear Electrician Frontline Supervisor, Reactor Plant Shutdown Planner, and Instructor. As a Frontline Supervisor, Derek managed a team of 10-15 individuals, focusing on professional development and technical training. In the role of Reactor Plant Shutdown Planner, significant savings in production were achieved through meticulous planning of plant shutdowns. As an Instructor, over 500 enlisted and officer students were trained in nuclear propulsion operations. Earlier in the Navy career, Derek held the position of Maintenance Manager, overseeing extensive maintenance operations and achieving quality improvements recognized by external inspections. Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technologies from Excelsior University and a DOE Certification in Electrical Operations and Maintenance of Nuclear Propulsion Plants from Naval Nuclear Power Training Command.
