Matt Exline has a diverse work experience. Matt has been working at the Ohio Department of Higher Education since 2014, starting as the Assistant Director of Program Approval Operations and currently holding the position of Senior Director, Program Approval Operations. Prior to that, they worked at Wellston City Schools as a Substitute Teacher and Coach from 2011 to 2014. In 2012, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Ohio University. Additionally, they worked for the State of Ohio as a Page in Senate District 17 from 2008 to 2009.
Matt Exline received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a focus on Middle Childhood Development from The Ohio State University in 2011. Matt then went on to pursue a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree in Middle Childhood Science and Social Studies from Ohio University, which they completed in 2016.

The Ohio Department of Higher Education (formerly known as the Ohio Board of Regents) is a Cabinet-level agency for the Governor of the State of Ohio that oversees higher education for the state. The agency’s main responsibilities include authorizing and approving new degree programs, managing state-funded financial aid programs, and developing and advocating policies to maximize higher education’s contributions to the state and its citizens. As a member of the Governor’s Cabinet, the Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education advises the Governor on higher education policy and implements the Governor’s plan to make college more affordable for Ohioans and drive the state’s economic advancement through its network of public universities, regional campuses, community colleges, and adult workforce and adult education centers. Chancellor John Carey was appointed the ninth Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents in April of 2013.
