Executive Vice President at Ohio Pork Council

Cheryl Day has a diverse and extensive work experience in the agricultural industry. Cheryl is currently serving as the Executive Vice President at Ohio Pork Council, a position they started in 2020. Prior to this, Cheryl owned and managed Day Cattle Farm since 1985, where they handled all aspects of a small herd of purebred Angus Cattle and contributed to the family multi-generation grain farm.

Cheryl also worked as the Vice President of Business Development - U.S. Team at Nedap Livestock Management from 2018 to 2019. Before that, they served as the Editor at National Hog Farmer, a business magazine for the pork industry, from 2015 to 2018. In this role, they generated revenue, maintained relationships, and coached staff.

Throughout their career, Cheryl has held various roles, including Newsletter Editor at Illinois Agri-Women from 2000 to 2016, Staff Writer at Farm Progress / Informa from 2013 to 2015, and Executive Director at Illinois Association of Drainage Districts from 2001 to 2013.

Additionally, Cheryl has experience as a Professional Speaker and Consultant at Cultivating Solutions, offering presentations to improve organizations' productivity based on their years of experience. Cheryl was also involved with the American Agri Women organization, serving as Secretary and Water Resources chair from 2008 to 2010.

Cheryl Day attended Petersburg Porta High School from 1988 to 1991, where they completed their high school education. Cheryl then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Business from Illinois State University from 1991 to 1995.

Ohio Pork Council

The Ohio Pork Council was established in 1968 when leaders in Ohio’s pork industry determined it was a necessity to promote their own product. When the organization began, about 800 farmers dedicated themselves to this task. The Council now has approximately 2,500 members. As the organization has grown, so have the programs to promote pork, along with increased services for OPC members. Today’s members continue to look toward tomorrow. Each year shows an increased awareness of the challenges and solutions facing the industry. This awareness will continue to make Ohio’s pork industry strong and viable for the next generation of Ohio farmers.
