Carly Leatherwood

Carly Leatherwood is the current Interim Chief of Staff at Ohio University. Carly has over 10 years of experience in communications and public relations. Carly started their career as an Assistant Director, Chief of Communications for the Ohio Department of Insurance. In this role, they were responsible for the creation and maintenance of State of Ohio’s health care reform web portal, www.healthcarereform.ohio.gov. Carly also developed and implemented marketing and communications strategies, presented at functions across Ohio to promote the Department’s programs and services to stakeholders and consumers, and edited all written materials for the agency.

In 2013, Carly transitioned to Educational Service Center of Central Ohio where they served as the Communications Consultant. In this role, they directed the work of the educational entity's communications division, which included public relations, writing, graphic design, video creation and editing, media relations, consultation services and the operation of a print shop.

Carly has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from The Ohio State University.

Carly Leatherwood holds a Master of Business Administration from Ohio University with a concentration in Executive Management. Carly also holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University. Carly Leatherwood graduated from Reynoldsburg High School.

Their manager is Duane Nellis, President. They are on a team with David Moore - Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Candace J. Boeninger - VP for Enrollment Management, and Robin Oliver - VP for University Communications & Marketing.
