Miriam Nelson has a diverse work experience in the field of archives, preservation, and digital initiatives. From 2007 to 2012, they worked as a Conservation Technician at Indiana University. In 2012, they joined Ohio University as the Head of Preservation and Digital Initiatives, a position they held until 2021. During their time at Ohio University, they also served as the Interim Head of the Mahn Center for Archives & Special Collections. Currently, Miriam is the Director of the Mahn Center for Archives & Special Collections, Preservation, & Digital Initiatives at Ohio University.

Miriam Nelson's education history shows that they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art History from The University of New Mexico in 2002. Miriam then went on to complete a Master of Arts (MA) in Cultural Memory from the University of London in 2004.
