Chris Slater

Chris Slater has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Chris is the Founder & CEO of Oka, The Carbon Insurance Company, a position they have held since February 2023. Prior to this, they co-founded and served as a Partner at 53 Degrees Capital since March 2019. Chris has also held the role of Member Board Of Trustees at Young Enterprise UK since February 2019.

In addition, Chris has served as a Non Executive Director at Zuto since June 2019. Previously, they were the Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer at Embedded Insurance, Inc. from July 2022 to February 2023. Chris also worked as the Chief Executive Officer at Sanctus from November 2020 to May 2022.

Before that, Chris held various roles at Simply Business, including Advisor, Co-Founder & CEO (USA), Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer, and Head of Insurance. Chris played a key role in co-founding the business in 2005, and during their time there, the company expanded to have offices in the US and the UK.

Chris has also worked as an Advisor at Kasko Ltd from September 2015 to November 2020 and at GoSimpleTax - GoSimple Software from October 2013 to January 2015. Chris began their career as an Executive Assistant to the Group CEO at Royal & SunAlliance from 2002 to 2004.

Chris Slater earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Liverpool from 1996 to 1999. Later, from 2004 to 2006, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Bayes Business School. In 2018, Chris also completed Executive Education from Singularity University.
