Maki Thomas PhD is an experienced international environmental consultant currently working with OECC since August 2023. Maki has held various roles at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology since September 2014, including Junior Research Fellow and Graduate Student, while also managing operations at Bacon Bar Japan since October 2019 with a focus on waste management and sustainable development goals. Previous experiences include serving as an Administrator at Nansei Environmental Laboratory Co., Ltd., a Barista/Shift Manager at Starbucks, and an Environmental Research Assistant at UMass Boston's EEOS Department. Maki has earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology, Population Biology, and Marine Science from Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Earth and Ocean Science from UMass Boston, and an Associate of Arts in Journalism from Bunker Hill Community College.
