Laura Costadone

Asst. Research Professor at Old Dominion University

Laura Costadone serves as an Assistant Research Professor at Old Dominion University since August 2023, focusing on bridging climate adaptation research and practical implementations at the Institute for Coastal Adaptation and Resilience (ICAR). As the Chief Scientific Officer and North America Coordinator for the Urban Biodiversity Hub since January 2022, Laura leads efforts to integrate nature into urban environments through innovative, science-based solutions. Previously, Laura held a senior researcher position at the Finnish Environment Institute from August 2021 to August 2023 and was a Ph.D. student at Portland State University from March 2015 to March 2022, also working as a water quality specialist for the Lake Oswego Corporation. Additional experience includes a role as Senior Science Manager and PR at RaceMD, a research assistant position at UC Davis, and serving as a graduate teaching assistant. Laura holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Portland State University, a Master's in Plant Pathology from Washington State University, and a Master's in Environmental Science from Università degli Studi di Torino.
