Materials And Laboratory Manager- R&d (part Of Prysmian Group) at Oman Cables Industry SAOG

Nissam Ashraf has more than 18 years of experience in the cable industry, specifically in materials and laboratory operations. In their current role as Materials and Lab Manager- R&D at Oman Cables Industry SAOG, they oversee and manages the materials and laboratory operations within the Research and Development department. Nissam leads a team in the qualification of polymer compounds used in cable manufacturing processes and ensures compliance with national and international standards. Nissam proactively troubleshoots and resolves materials and process-related issues, optimizing cable manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvement.

Prior to their current role, Nissam worked at Ducab for 16 years, starting as a Quality Specialist and progressing to Materials Engineer and then Senior Materials Engineer in the Product & Technology Development department. In these roles, they were responsible for evaluating and qualifying polymer and metals based materials used in the cable industry. Nissam provided process guidelines and resolved material-related process problems during cable manufacturing. Nissam also conducted quality-related activities such as internal audits and supplier material evaluations to select the best combination of materials for specific applications.

Before their tenure at Ducab, Nissam worked as a QUALITY In-CHARGE at Periyar Group of Companies, where they were responsible for quality control, production assistance, and material checking for UPVC pipes and water storage tanks. Nissam also supervised calibrations, maintenance of equipment, and commissioning of laboratory equipment.

Earlier in their career, Nissam worked as a Production Officer at Pearl Engineering Polymers Ltd, where they were in charge of production and process control for injection stretch blow molding of PET and injection molding of commodity plastics. Nissam also managed machine maintenance, shift handling, production planning, and quality control.

Overall, Nissam has a strong background in materials engineering, quality control, and process optimization in the cable industry.

Nissam Ashraf completed their undergraduate degree in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Kerala between 1999 and 2002. This degree focused on coursework in physics, chemistry, and math. Subsequently, from 2002 to 2004, they pursued a postgraduate diploma in Plastics Processing & Testing (PGD-PPT) at CIPET. During this program, they specialized in the field of polymer production and testing.
