Abril Chong Torres

Abril Chong, PE, is an experienced engineer currently serving as an Engineer In Training at OMEGA ENGINEERS, INC. since April 2020. Prior to this role, Abril worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at NASA MIRO Center for Space Exploration and Technology Research from January 2019 to September 2022, leading projects involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), including the Gimbal Project that focused on designing stabilization systems for cameras, and transforming a fixed-wing drone into a Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) configuration. Abril began a career in engineering as an ACES Associate at UTEP's Advancement Center for Engineering Students from January 2017 to July 2018, where responsibilities included coordinating events for engineering students and conducting orientations. Abril holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso and also studied at the University of Ulsan in 2018.
