Mike Powell

Mike Powell is an accomplished professional in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, currently serving as an Executive Partner at Omega Funds since 2021, where the focus is on creating and investing in biotech companies that address unmet medical needs. Prior to joining Omega Funds, Mike Powell was the Managing General Partner at Sofinnova Investments from 1997 to 2021, specializing in clinical and late preclinical investments in pharmaceutical products with a technically skilled team. Earlier roles include Group Leader in Pharm R&D at Genentech, Director of Product Development at Cytel, and Senior Scientist in Formulation Development at Syntex, where Mike Powell developed expertise in drug formulation and delivery systems. Mike Powell began a scientific career as a Scientist at Atomic Energy of Canada and holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Toronto, as well as postdoctoral studies at the University of California.
