Matthew Thomson

Matthew Thomson has over 17 years of professional experience in the fields of research, engineering, and product management. In 2021, they began working as a Technical Product Owner and Lead Support Engineer for Omniscient Neurotechnology (o8t). From 2014 to 2021, they worked at Dental Axess as a Technical Product Manager, Service and Support Manager, and Service Engineer. In 2013, they worked as a Research Scientist - Ultrasonics for Callaghan Innovation. In 2012, they transferred their position and professional responsibilities to Industrial Research Ltd, where they worked as a Research Scientist - Ultrasonics. In 2010, they worked as an MSc Student at Industrial Research Ltd, completing a thesis on Ultrasonic Non-destructive Testing of Fibre Reinforced Composites. In 2008 and 2009, they worked as a Summer Research Student and Undergraduate Tutor and Summer Research Student at Industrial Research Ltd and Victoria University of Wellington, respectively. In 2004, they worked as a Technician at DTCE Structural Engineering, where they conducted soil testing, wind speed calculations, and site surveying.

Matthew Thomson began their educational journey in 2006 when they enrolled in Victoria University of Wellington and obtained a BSc in Maths and Physics in 2008. In 2009, they completed their BSc Hons in Physics at the same university. Matthew then went on to obtain an MSc in Physics from Victoria University of Wellington in 2011. More recently, in October 2021, Matthew obtained a certification in Programming for Data Science with Python from Udacity.
