Vegard Økland

Vegard Økland has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Vegard is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Omny since 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Cognite AS as a Principal Software Engineer from 2020 to 2023. In this role, Vegard served as a tech lead for multiple application development teams, focusing on front-end web development and also worked as an application and devops architect.

Before joining Cognite AS, Vegard held positions at Schibsted Media Group from 2016 to 2019. Vegard initially worked as a Senior Software Engineer in the User Behavior Tracking group, where they focused on the Schibsted event tracker web SDK. Vegard later participated in an office exchange program in the Barcelona office, where they contributed to rewriting the chat widget used across Schibsted's marketplaces.

Earlier in their career, Vegard worked at Cxense as a Technical Team Lead from 2016 to 2016 and as a Senior Software Engineer from 2012 to 2015. During their time at Cxense, they played a crucial role in front-end development for various applications, including Cxense Insight, Cxense DMP, Cxense Content, and Cxense Search.

Vegard started their professional journey as a Sharepoint Developer at Acando from 2011 to 2012. Prior to that, they gained practical experience as an intern at Yahoo! from 2009 to 2011, where they focused on improving the continuous integration system, test reporting, and developing demo apps using Ruby, RoR, and JavaScript. Vegard also worked briefly as a software developer intern at Computas in 2009.

Vegard's earliest professional position was at NTNU IT, where they worked as an Orakel from 2007 to 2009.

Vegard Økland attended the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) from 2006 to 2011, where they obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science. Vegard focused their studies in the field of Computer Science during their time at NTNU.
