Dennis Schmidt

Dennis Schmidt is an experienced data scientist and petrophysicist with a robust background in the oil and gas upstream sector. Currently employed at OMV since January 2015, Dennis engages in machine learning projects, particularly in computer vision utilizing tools like OpenCV, TensorFlow, and PyTorch. Previous roles involve significant contributions to offshore drilling and well intervention for the Maui and Pohokura fields, including process improvement through app development with Microsoft PowerApps and comprehensive data analysis using programming tools such as Python and C++. Dennis's expertise is further broadened by earlier positions in geological analysis and interpretation across multiple organizations, including Senergy Energy Services and Gulf Oil & Gas FZE. Dennis holds a Master of Science degree in Applied Geophysics from Delft University of Technology, RWTH Aachen University, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Geoscience from Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
