Charles Kay

Chapter Co-founder And Co-president, Vanderbilt Effective Altruism/vanderbilt OFTW at One for the World

Charles Kay has a diverse work experience with various roles and responsibilities. Charles co-founded and co-presided over the One for the World chapter at Vanderbilt University, where they successfully motivated undergraduates to pledge a portion of their future income to effective charities. Charles also expanded the chapter to include all cause areas of effective altruism. Charles worked as a Resident Advisor at Vanderbilt University from 2017 to 2020. Charles was a Research Assistant at the University of Chicago Urban Labs for a brief period in 2018. Charles gained experience as a Policy and Outreach Intern at the Office of the Chicago City Treasurer in 2017, where they organized community conversations and helped attendees apply for grants with a high success rate. Charles interned with IL State Representative Kelly Cassidy in 2016. Charles served as a Lead Organizer at The Chicago Students Union and Chief Innovation Officer at the Junior Economic Club of Chicago in 2015. Charles was also a member of the CEO Student Advisory Council at Chicago Public Schools during the same period. In 2014, they worked as a Data Intern and Summer Corps Intern at Organizing for Action, where they gained experience in data management and volunteer training.

Charles Kay attended Whitney M. Young High School from 2012 to 2016. From there, they went on to Vanderbilt University where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Studies from 2016 to 2020.
