After working for ITOCHU Corporation and ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation, Shinji joined ITOCHU Technology Ventures (ITV) in 2012, where he invested in Japanese and US startups including Mercari (IPO), Uzabase (IPO), Box (IPO), Muse&Co (acquired by Mixi), and WHILL. In March 2015, he assumed the role of Japan Head for Salesforce Ventures and invested in enterprise software startups such as Sansan (IPO), free (IPO), Visional (IPO), Goodpatch (IPO), Yappli (IPO), Student, and Andpad. In April 2020, Shinji co-founded One Capital. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Keio University and an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
