Melissa Williamson began their career in 2013 at Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority, where they held roles as a COVID-19 Case and Contact Management and Medical Laboratory Assistant. In their role as Medical Laboratory Assistant, they performed administrative duties such as making appointments, data entry, pulling summaries such as pending lists or specimen reports, maintaining records of test results, telephoning, and delivery of test results. Melissa also used online applications like Cerner to create encounters, order lab tests, modify collections, check results, and transfer specimens. Additionally, they prepared biological specimens for analysis and performed duties such as aliquoting and separating serum/plasma from cells by centrifugation and prepared samples for send-out and packages samples in accordance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations and procedures. In 2022, they began working as a QA Engineer at OneVest.

Melissa Williamson has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria, where they studied Biology, General from 2013 to 2017. Melissa also attended Camosun College in 2013 for a Clinical/Medical Laboratory Assistant program. In 2022, they will attend Lighthouse Labs for a Web Development program.
