Alejandra Acevedo

Anti-Human Trafficking Consultant at OnFrontiers

Alejandra Acevedo has worked in a variety of roles since 2009. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as a Law Clerk at the National District Attorneys Association - National Center for Prosecution of Child Abuse, where they researched and analyzed human trafficking criminal statutes for a national summit. From 2009 to 2011, they also worked as a Legal Intern at the Center for Legal Empowerment, Accountability and Reform (CLEAR). From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Family Care Coordinator at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). From 2014 to 2015, they worked as a Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Specialist for the Office for Victims of Crime at ICF International. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as an Associate Attorney at the Immigration Law Office of Arturo Jimenez, P.C. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as an Associate Attorney at Elevation Law, LLC and as an Anti-Human Trafficking Consultant at OnFrontiers. From 2019 to the present, they have worked as a Deputy District Attorney at the Denver District Attorney's Office in the District Court, Juvenile Unit, and County Court. In their roles, they have provided direct legal representation to clients, conducted intakes of clients, and screened for cases involving asylum, human trafficking, child abuse and neglect, DACA, and other forms of relief. Additionally, they have trained on trauma informed approaches related to serving and protecting human trafficking victims and survivors, and between October 2021 and June 2022, they reviewed 56 U Visa Certification requests.

Alejandra Acevedo received their Juris Doctor from the American University Washington College of Law between 2006 and 2009, where they studied Criminal Law, Litigation, and International Law. Alejandra also earned their Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida between 2002 and 2004, where they studied Political Science, Mass Communications, and International Relations.
