Michael Pegues has a long and varied work experience. Michael began their career in 1995 at AT&T as an IVRS Operations Programmer. In 1996, they moved to PepsiCo as a Senior Client Support Specialist. In 1998, they joined the United States Department of Defense as a Combat Service Support Automation Management Officer (GS-11) at the Logistical Readiness Center (LRC). In 2000, they began working at HP as a Technical Account Manager in Europe Middle East Africa for IT Managed Services. In 2004, they became the Managing Director at Atlantic Società a Responsabilità Limitata. In 2010, they joined Vodafone as a Transition Manager in Group Technology Security. In 2013, they began working at Morgan Stanley as a Vice President (VP) in Portfolio Project Management for Enterprise Security Solutions. In 2017, they became the Chief Information Officer (and acting Chief Information Security Officer) for the City of Aurora, as well as the Chairman and CEO of OnLight Aurora. Finally, in 2022, they began teaching the MAPS 640: Smart Cities and Communities course as an Associate Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
Michael Pegues has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Central European University, obtained in 2016, with a field of study in Global Executive Management. Michael also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) from DeVry University, obtained in 1997, with a field of study in Computer Information Systems. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including Foundations of City Innovation: Strategy, Leadership & Innovation from Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in 2019, as well as ITIL V3 Intermediate Level certifications from PEOPLECERT and EXIN between 2010 and 2015.
