Shiyi Zhang

Shiyi Zhang has been working in the field of biomedical engineering since 2009. In 2009, they began working as a Research Assistant at Texas A&M University, where they completed their Ph.D. study. In 2013, they moved to Massachusetts Institute of Technology to become a Postdoctoral Fellow, focusing on gastrointestinal drug delivery. In 2016, Shiyi became an Assistant Professor in the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where they also received the 1000 Plan Program for Young Talents in 2015. In 2017, Shiyi founded OnQuality Pharmaceuticals Ltd., which focuses on developing and commercializing innovative drugs and novel drug delivery systems. Her research interests include therapeutic treatments of adverse effects caused by targeted therapies, polymeric materials for the management of blood glucose spikes after meals, and synthetic small blood vessels for cardiac bypass surgery.

Shiyi Zhang obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Peking University in 2008, and a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis in 2013.
