Joshua Winn is a highly experienced software engineer with a diverse range of roles and responsibilities. Joshua is currently working as a Lead R&D Engineer at OnScale, an Ansys Company, where they began in January 2023. Prior to this, from August 2022 to December 2022, Joshua worked as a Staff Software Engineer - Backend at Zscaler.
Before Zscaler, Joshua held the position of Senior Software Engineer - Backend at Automox from April 2021 to June 2022. In this role, they were the pod leader for a team that developed a system connecting millions of devices. Joshua utilized Java, Go, and Springboot for backend development and was responsible for architecting, creating, and testing the communication pipeline between deployed client agents and the backend.
Prior to Automox, Joshua worked as a Staff Software Engineer at Collins Aerospace from December 2019 to April 2021. Joshua'sresponsibilities included developing Air Force training applications using Java and Postgresql. Joshua also gained proficiency in Python, using it to write unit tests.
Joshua's career began at Pratt & Whitney in May 2012, where they initially worked as a Software Engineer until May 2016. In this role, they programmed engineering design tools for mechanical and aeronautical engineers using Java and C-based languages. From May 2016 to November 2019, Joshua was promoted to the position of Senior Software Engineer at Pratt & Whitney. Here, they led a team of developers in creating Java CAD applications and generating automation tools for the design of turbine airfoils using Java, Netbeans, JavaFX, NXOpen, and ANT.
Joshua Winn completed their education in mechanical engineering at Brigham Young University. Joshua obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2006 to 2010. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the same university from 2010 to 2012. In addition to their degrees, Joshua obtained the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) in October 2010.
