Deitra Sawh, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. Deitra began their career at TD Securities as a Project Manager in Risk Management from September 2002 to August 2005. Following this, they served as a Foreign Exchange Sales & Trading professional at TD Securities from September 2005 to December 2008. In 2009, they joined the University of Waterloo, where they completed their Ph.D. in Financial Fraud, Machine Learning, and Data Mining from January 2009 to November 2015. From February 2013 to December 2013, they worked at Deloitte as a Financial Fraud Expert. Starting May 2016, Sawh joined Ontario Financing Authority as a Manager in Risk Control Operations until July 2023. Simultaneously, they held the roles of an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Waterloo from January 2016 to the present and an Executive Team Lead in the Innovation Lab at Ontario Financing Authority from November 2018 to the present.
Deitra Sawh, Ph.D. has an extensive educational background. Deitra obtained their Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo from 1996 to 2001. Following this, they pursued a Masters of Mathematical Finance from the University of Toronto, completing it in 2002.
Dr. Sawh continued their academic journey by enrolling at the University of Waterloo once again, this time earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from 2009 to 2015. Their Ph.D. focused on the fields of Machine Learning, Financial Fraud, and Data Mining of Imbalanced Databases.
In addition to their formal degrees, Dr. Sawh has also acquired additional certifications. Deitra obtained a Certificate in University Teaching from the University of Waterloo in May 2015. Furthermore, they possess the Canadian Securities Course certification from the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), although the exact date of completion is unknown.
