Leland Lai is an advisor at oomii, a company that specializes in mobile technology. Leland has over 20 years of experience in the mobile industry, holding various management positions at different companies.
Lai started their career in 1990 at Hutchison Telecom Ltd., where they worked in corporate development. In 1995, they joined 3Com Corporation, where they did a management rotation. After two years, they moved to Cortelco Systems Puerto Rico, Inc., where they became president of the wireless division. In 1997, they founded CriticalSense, a big data/business intelligence software provider. In 2004, they became GM of Terayon, a mobile TV equipment supplier that was acquired by Motorola for $140M. From 2010 to 2017, Lai served as managing director of Asia for GSMA, an industry trade group for the mobile industry spanning 200+ countries and 800+ members.
Lai has a wealth of experience in the mobile industry and has been involved with many different aspects of the business, from software development to sales and marketing. Leland is an expert in the field and has helped oomii grow into a leading mobile technology company.
Leland Lai holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, a BSME from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a certificate in negotiation and leadership from Harvard Law School. Leland is also a certified bareboat captain from the American Sailing Association and a licensed pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration. In addition, they are certified as a personal trainer from the American Council on Exercise (ACE Fitness).
