Hanna Äijälä

Hanna Äijälä has a diverse background in the financial industry, spanning over two decades. Hanna began their career at Refrak Oy, a Finnish engineering SME, where they held various positions including CEO and CFO. During this time, they managed international operations and implemented financial improvements.

In 2007, Hanna joined OP Financial Group, where they made significant contributions in a variety of roles. As a Product Manager and later a Development Manager, they played a key role in the company's payment services and cash management. Hanna then moved on to become Vice President in charge of Corporate Cash Management, specializing in emerging business areas and innovations.

In 2013, Hanna founded and led Pivo Wallet Oy ltd, a subsidiary of OP. As the CEO, they successfully launched the award-winning Pivo mobile wallet app and spearheaded OP's mobile payment initiatives. Hanna also established and headed the new business subsidiary within OP, incubating new disruptive business initiatives.

In 2014, Hanna took on the role of CEO at Checkout Finland Oy, another subsidiary of OP. Hanna led the acquisition of the eCommerce company and managed its integration into the OP Financial Group.

Most recently, Hanna returned to OP Financial Group as Business Lead, leading the transformation and renewal of the company's payments business. Their responsibilities included implementing real-time payments, developing new digital cash management services, and driving cross-border payments growth.

Throughout their career, Hanna has demonstrated a strong track record of strategic thinking, innovation, and successful project delivery. Hanna has been instrumental in improving customer experience, future-proofing business models, and implementing cutting-edge technologies.

Hanna Äijälä earned their M.Sc.(Econ) degree in Marketing and Information Systems Science from Helsingin kauppakorkeakoulu in 2006. Hanna also attended Messukylän lukio, but no specific degree or field of study was mentioned.
