Ville Peurala

Ville Peurala has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Ville started their career as a Subway Train Driver at HSL Helsingin seudun liikenne in 1999 and worked there until 2000. After that, they worked as a Managing Editor at Acacom Oy for a short period. Ville then joined JA Tietoteollisuus Oy, where they served as a Software Designer from 2001 to 2005, working on multiple projects with a focus on Java, Ruby, and Visual Basic.

In 2005, Ville moved to Reaktor Innovations and took on the role of Software Architect. Ville worked there until 2013, during which they also served as the Chief Architect from 2009 to 2013. Ville gained experience in software development using agile methods, mainly focusing on web applications and open-source technologies.

In 2013, Ville worked as a Freelance Software Engineer before joining Wunderdog Oy in 2014. Ville worked as a Lead Developer and later as the Chief Technology Officer until 2018. Ville then joined Tomorrow Labs, where they worked as a Senior Software Engineer from 2018 to 2019.

In 2019, Ville joined OrangIT Oy as the Chief Technology Officer and later transitioned into the role of Senior Consultant. Ville worked there until 2020 when they joined OP Financial Group. At OP Financial Group, Ville took on the role of Lead Developer, initially working on automating credit decision processes and later leading a team of 4 developers focused on building the next generation wealth platform for OP, specifically in mutual funds.

Throughout their career, Ville has gained expertise in various technologies, including Kotlin, TypeScript, Scala, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Node.js, React, and AWS. Ville has also been involved in Pure Functional Programming, extensive testing, and working with large numbers of test cases.

Ville Peurala completed their education at the University of Helsinki from 1995 to 2011, earning a Filosofian maisteri (M.Sc.) degree in Computer Science, Comparative Literature, Philosophy, and Mathematics. Ville also attended Porin aikuislukio in 1995, where they completed high school as a Ylioppilas. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, including Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft (expected in 2024), a SoundGym Certificate from SoundGym (expected in 2023), and a Java (Basic) certification from HackerRank (obtained in 2021). Ville has also completed several online courses, such as "Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects" from Coursera (obtained in 2016) and "Functional Programming Principles in Scala" from Coursera (obtained in 2012). Lastly, they became a Certified ScrumMaster through Scrum Alliance in 2007.
