Deirdre Appel

Deirdre Appel is an accomplished professional in international development and communications, currently serving as the Clearinghouse Community Manager for PARIS21 since January 2022 and as a Communications Adviser for Open Data Watch since September 2021. Previously, Deirdre held various roles at Open Data Watch from June 2016 to February 2021, including Director of Programs and Operations, Program Manager, and Associate. Deirdre's experience also includes serving as Program Manager and Graduate Research Fellow at Innovations for Peace and Development, and a USAID/AidData Fellow at UNICEF. Other notable positions include Online Editor at City Weekend, Contributing Writer for The Word, English Teacher at VUS Language School, and Public Policy Fellow at the UD Center for Community Research and Service. Deirdre holds a Master of Global Policy Studies in International Development from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Public Policy from the University of Delaware, along with CELTA certification from The Teaching House.
