Hongyi Li

Hongyi Li has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Hongyi is currently the Director at Open Government Products in GovTech Singapore, a position they have held since July 2019. Prior to this, they worked in GovTech Singapore as a Deputy Director. In this role, they built a team of software engineers, UI designers, and project managers to develop tech products for the public sector. Hongyi also implemented new government policies and practices, such as recruiting practices, career schemes, and meeting processes. One of their notable achievements was rebuilding the government's data sharing platform, increasing its monthly visits from 10k to 500k. Hongyi also worked as a Consultant in GovTech Singapore, where they focused on increasing interest in computer science education, redesigning data.gov.sg, and improving the transport network. Before their time at GovTech Singapore, Hongyi Li worked as a Product Manager at Google and as a Platoon Commander in the Singapore Armed Forces. Hongyi also gained experience as an Associate Product Manager intern at Google, a Research Assistant at MIT, and a Summer Intern at the Ministry of the Environment & Water Resources.

Hongyi Li completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science and Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, from 2008 to 2009, Li participated in the Cambridge-MIT Undergraduate Exchange program at the University of Cambridge, focusing on Economics.
