James Ornelas

James Ornelas has a strong background in internal audit, starting with their current role as Vice President of Internal Audit at Open Lending since February 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice President Internal Audit at American Campus Communities since October 2021, where they also served as Senior Director of Internal Audit from February 2018 to October 2021 and as Internal Audit Manager from September 2015 to January 2018. James gained significant experience in internal audit at Whole Foods Market, where they worked as a Senior Internal Auditor from March 2010 to September 2015 and as an Internal Auditor from March 2008 to March 2010. Before that, they were with PwC as part of the Systems and Process Assurance team from August 2007 to March 2008 and as a Systems and Process Assurance Intern from June 2006 to August 2006. James began their career as an Audit Intern at EY from January 2006 to March 2006.

James Ornelas obtained a Master's degree in Professional Accounting from the Texas McCombs School of Business, where they studied from 2002 to 2007. James also holds additional certifications as a Certified Internal Auditor from The Institute of Internal Auditors and as a Certified Public Accountant from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
