Open Way Learning is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that co-designs ways to amplify the joy & wonder of learning for every student by helping schools change from the inside out.
We partner with educators, students, and communities to build cultures where continuous improvement, shared leadership, and learner-centered innovation can thrive. Our work is grounded in improvement science, using practical continuous improvement cycles like PDSA (Plan–Do–Study–Act) to help schools test ideas, learn quickly, and create lasting change.
Our approach draws on learner-centered practices such as:
High-Quality Project-Based Learning (HQPBL)
Competency-Based Education
Design Thinking
Personalized Learning
Distributed Leadership
We ground this work in the principles of Open Up, Education!, advancing open, equitable systems where innovation is driven by the people closest to the work.
One example of this approach in action is the WNC Resilience Project, a regional initiative connecting educators and communities to reimagine learning through real-world challenges, student agency, and continuous improvement.
We support schools through workshops, coaching, co-design partnerships, and storytelling that highlights what’s working in real classrooms and communities.
