Library Learning Commons Director at Open Window School

Lauren Richey's work experience began in 2009 when they worked as an Administrative Assistant for USAID. There, they provided support to the Office Director and Deputy Office Director, handling travel and meeting arrangements, as well as general clerical and administrative duties. After four years, they moved on to work as an Executive Assistant for Esterline from 2014 to 2016. Following their time at Esterline, they took on multiple roles at different educational institutions. Lauren served as a Library Intern at Seattle Public Schools and St. Thomas School in 2016. Later that year, they joined Open Window School as an Assistant Librarian, and eventually became the Library Learning Commons Director in January 2018.

Lauren Richey pursued their education at Brigham Young University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, with a focus on General Studies and Humanities. Lauren attended this institution from 2002 to 2009. Later, they enrolled at the University of Washington, where they achieved a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) degree in the field of School Librarian/School Library Media Specialist. Their studies at the University of Washington spanned from 2014 to 2016.

Open Window School is a K-8 independent school located in Bellevue, Washington. Founded in 1985 to provide an educational environment specially designed for gifted learners, Open Window is a school “For Gifted Kids Who Love to Learn.” The learning environment provides a challenging academic curriculum blended with nurturing support from teachers that prepares students for long-term success. Open Window is fully accredited by NWAIS (Northwest Association of Independent Schools). Current enrollment is 358 students.
