Alex Beutel

Alex Beutel is currently a Member of Technical Staff and Research Scientist at OpenAI, having joined in June 2023. Prior to this role, Alex spent nearly seven years at Google, where positions included Senior Staff Research Scientist and Tech Lead, contributing to various machine learning projects. Alex's academic background includes a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, focusing on large-scale user behavior modeling with applications in fraud detection and recommendation systems. Additional experience includes internships at Google, Microsoft, and Facebook, alongside co-founding Duke Schedulator, a web application for students. Alex also held researcher roles at Duke University and was involved in online development for the Duke Chronicle.
