Botao Hao is a research scientist at OpenAI, where they focus on reasoning models. Prior to this role, they were involved in RLHF research for Gemini at Google DeepMind from 2022 to 2024, and completed a postdoctoral research position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Princeton University. Botao also gained experience as a research intern at DeepMind and Adobe in 2019 and 2018, respectively. They earned a PhD in Statistics from Purdue University in 2019.
