Mikhail Trofimov

Mikhail Trofimov is an experienced professional in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning, currently serving as a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI since October 2025, focusing on AI for Health. Previously, Mikhail worked at Tesla as an AI Engineer from October 2022 to September 2025, contributing to computer vision research and the post-training of Full Self-Driving models. Prior roles include leading the Ad Buying team at Praxis Pioneering as a ML Engineer and Team Lead, and serving as a Lecturer at DataGym, where Mikhail taught classic machine learning and recommendation systems. Mikhail also held the position of Senior ML Engineer and ML Infrastructure Team Lead at Joom, where a high-available ML ecosystem was developed. Earlier experience includes ML Researcher and Engineer positions at Machine Learning Works and Data Scientist at Avito. Mikhail holds a Master’s degree in Intelligent Data Analysis and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
