Joanne Kamens, PhD, is a seasoned professional in the fields of biotechnology and diversity advocacy, currently serving on the Board of Directors for Cohort Sistas and OpenBiome, and as Director of Alumni Programming for PharmStars. With a strong focus on advancing gender and racial equity in doctoral education, as well as improving health through microbiome research, Joanne is also a Senior Consultant for Diversity North Group, helping organizations foster diversity, equity, and inclusion. Previously, Joanne held leadership roles such as Interim Executive Director at the Center for Women and Business at Bentley University and Executive Director at Addgene. Joanne's extensive background includes significant contributions at RXi Pharmaceuticals and Abbott Bioresearch Center, where strategic project management and research advancements were achieved. Joanne holds a PhD in Genetics from Harvard University and a BA in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania.
