Michael Binkley, PhD has a diverse work experience. Michael is currently the Director of Engineering at OpenCell Technologies, Inc., a role they have held since 2021. From 2015 to 2021, they held two roles at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis: Staff Scientist and Data Scientist and Research Statistician in Dr. Andria Ford's Lab. In this role, they performed retrospective data analysis on ischemic stroke patients with sickle cell disease, including data cleaning, non-parametric modeling, GEE, mixed models, and predictive study designs. Michael also developed spatial correlation for biomarkers to stroke risk assessment. From 2014 to 2015, they held two roles at the Washington University McKelvey School of Engineering: Lab Manager and Safety Advisor and Teaching Assistant. As Lab Manager and Safety Advisor, they were responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Scalable Integrated MicroSystems (SIMS) Lab under the guidance of Dr. J. Mark Meacham. As Teaching Assistant, they taught soft nanomaterial properties, spin coating, soft lithography, PVD, oxide deposition, RIE, and wet etching. From 2013 to 2014, they held two roles at the University of Arizona: Student Researcher in UBRP and Student Researcher in Dr. Zohar's lab. In the UBRP, they were selected by committee to work under a mentor for the duration of the program. In Dr. Zohar's lab, they worked on micro/nano channel fabrication and pollen ovule interaction behavior.

Michael Binkley received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2014. Michael then went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Biostatistics from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2015. Finally, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University McKelvey School of Engineering in 2019.
