Chief Information Officer at Opener

Celia Oakley has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Celia currently holds the position of Chief Information Officer at Opener, starting in October 2021. Prior to this role, they served as the Director of Information at Opener from September 2020 to October 2021. Celia also held the positions of Information Team Manager and Flight Testing Manager from May 2016 to September 2020, and Flight Testing Manager from November 2014 to May 2016 at Opener.

In addition to their work at Opener, Celia was a member of the Stanford Athletics Board - Executive Committee from September 2017 to June 2021.

Before their tenure at Opener and Stanford Athletics, Celia worked as a Consultant at CMO Consulting in 2014, where they were responsible for the design and implementation of the backend for a culture-rich web application for a startup in stealth mode. Celia also engaged in self-driven technical projects from 2000 to 2013, assuming the role of Project Leader.

Earlier in their career, Celia was involved in the Stanford Racing Team as the Testing Group Leader in 2004. Celia also worked as a Consultant at CMO Consulting from 1996 to 2002, where they implemented projects and provided advice to startup and small companies in various fields.

Celia's career started at Lectus, Inc. in 1992, where they served as the Manager of Systems and IT Teams until 1995. Prior to that, they were a Senior Engineer at Exponent Failure Analysis Associates from 1990 to 1992. Celia began their professional journey as a Research Assistant at the Aerospace Robotics Laboratory from 1984 to 1990.

Celia Oakley completed their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, which they obtained from 1978 to 1983. Celia then pursued further studies at Stanford University, where they earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from 1983 to 1985. Continuing their education at Stanford, they went on to complete their Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from 1985 to 1991.
