Karim Fayez has a strong background in aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering. Karim is currently working at Opener as a Senior Aero-Mechanical Engineer starting from April 2023. Prior to that, Karim worked at Delair as an Aero-Mechanical Engineer from October 2021 to April 2023. During their time at Delair, they also served as an R&D Intern, focusing on the aerodynamics and sizing of drones, from April to October 2021.
Karim also gained valuable experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at ISAE-SUPAERO from January 2020 to March 2021, where they were involved in the preliminary aerodynamic design of a convertible UAV. Karim developed a multi-disciplinary optimization tool using Python's OpenMDAO platform. Karim also published a paper related to their research during this time.
Before that, Karim worked at CAE as a Flight Systems Specialist from August 2018 to August 2019 and as a Software Integration Specialist from June 2016 to August 2018. Karim started their career as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Pratt & Whitney Canada in 2015, followed by internships at Siemens, Rolls-Royce, WATERAX INC., and ThyssenKrupp.
In addition to their engineering experience, Karim also worked part-time as a McGill Computer Store Sales Consultant at McGill University from January to April 2015.
Overall, Karim Fayez has a diverse range of experience in aerospace and mechanical engineering, with expertise in aerodynamics, UAV design, optimization, and software integration.
Karim Fayez began their education in 2010 at The American University in Cairo, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Karim completed this program in 2011 before going on to enroll at McGill University in 2011. At McGill, Karim studied Mechanical Engineering as part of the Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) program. During their time at McGill, Karim participated in an Internship Program, which further enhanced their engineering skills. Karim completed their undergraduate studies in 2016.
After gaining work experience, Karim decided to pursue a higher level of education in the field of Aerospace Engineering. Karim enrolled at ISAE-SUPAERO in 2019 to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Aerospace Engineering. Karim successfully completed their master's program in 2021.
Throughout their educational journey, Karim also obtained additional certifications to complement their engineering knowledge. In 2014, they obtained the Associate Value Specialist (AVS) certification from SAVE International. Additionally, in 2015, Karim obtained the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification from McGill University.
