David Wych

Scientific Developer II — cryoEM at OpenEye, Cadence Molecular Sciences

David Wych has a diverse work experience in scientific research and academia. David is currently working as a Scientific Developer II at OpenEye, Cadence Molecular Sciences, specializing in cryoEM. Prior to this, David served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 2021 to 2023, where they worked in the Computer, Computational, and Statistical Sciences Division. David was also awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Center for Non-linear Studies during their time at the laboratory. David gained research experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Irvine from 2016 to 2021. Furthermore, they participated in the CNLS Virtual Summer Internship program at Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2020 and worked as a Graduate Student Assistant at the same institution in 2019. Some of their notable research work during this time was published in Structural Dynamics. In 2018, David was an Applied Machine Learning Summer Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Prior to their research career, they worked as a Professional Tutor at Revolution Prep and as a Research Assistant at Western University of Health Sciences. David also served as a Tutor at Scripps College and a Research Lab Assistant at Columbia University.

David Wych pursued their education in a disciplined manner, obtaining their Bachelor's degree in Physics from Claremont McKenna College between 2011 and 2015. David then continued their academic journey at UC Irvine, where they completed their Ph.D. in Pharmacological Sciences specializing in X-ray Crystallography and Biomolecular Simulations from 2016 to 2021.
