Jharrod LaFon

Vice President of Cloud Development at OpenEye, Cadence Molecular Sciences

Jharrod LaFon has extensive work experience in various roles and industries.

Jharrod started their career at the USDA Forest Service in 2006, working as a firefighter for a few months.

In 2009, they joined NMSU Engineering Technology as an Engineering Assistant, where they collaborated with faculty to develop curriculum for renewable energy technology classes and labs.

The following year, Jharrod became a part of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, initially as a Student Researcher and later as a Graduate Research Assistant and Computer Scientist.

In 2012, they joined OpenEye Scientific as a Developer and gradually progressed to become the Director of Cloud Platform Engineering. Jharrod then assumed the role of Vice President of Cloud Development in 2020.

Currently, Jharrod is working at Cadence Design Systems as a Senior Group Director of Research & Development, starting from September 2022.

Jharrod LaFon completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics at New Mexico State University from 2005 to 2010. Following that, they pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science at the same institution from 2010 to 2012.
