Tom Díaz

Tom Díaz has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. In 1988, they served as the Director of Engineering for Security Dynamics, leading the development of a client/server two-factor authentication product. From 1991 to 1998, Tom worked as the Vice President of Product Development at Iris Associates, managing Lotus Notes engineering. Tom then joined Glassbook, Inc. as the Vice President of Product Development, where they co-founded and developed electronic book technology. In 2000, Tom became the Senior Engineering Manager at Adobe Systems, where they managed the Boston-area department of the Acrobat engineering group. Tom also worked as a consultant for CoreStreet, Ltd in 2004, and Adobe Systems, Inc. in 2005. From 2004 to 2009, Tom served as a consultant to the Library of Congress, contributing to the development of digital versions of talking books for the blind and disabled citizens. In 2008, they became a social studies teacher at Boston Public Schools and later worked as a Software Application Specialist for the City of Santa Fe from 2015 to 2018. Currently, Tom Díaz is employed at OpenEye, Cadence Molecular Sciences as a Documentation Technical Specialist and Software Developer.

Tom Díaz obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from Indiana University Bloomington in 1972. After a substantial gap, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Education degree from UMass Boston in 2009. In terms of additional certifications, Tom has obtained multiple certificates from various online platforms and institutions. These include certifications in C# Advanced Topics and C# Intermediate: Classes, Interfaces, and OOP from Udemy in March 2020, Agile Software Development from Coursera Course Certificates in January 2020, Java Programming: Principles of Software Design from Coursera in November 2019, and Programming Foundations with JavaScript, HTML and CSS (with Honors) from Coursera in July 2017. Tom also holds certifications in Java Programming: Arrays, Lists, and Structured Data, Java Programming: Solving Problems with Software, and Using Databases with Python, all obtained from Coursera Course Certificates in 2017 and 2016. Tom has additionally obtained certifications in Principles of Computing (Part 1) from Coursera Verified Certificates in October 2015, An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python (Part 2), with Distinction from Coursera Verified Certificates in August 2015, Cryptography 1 online course, Statement of Accomplishment from Stanford University in July 2015, Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python, Part 1, with Distinction from Coursera Verified Certificates in July 2015, and Introduction to Programming with MATLAB, with Distinction from Coursera Verified Certificates in June 2015. Lastly, Tom obtained an Initial Teaching License for history from the State of Massachusetts in August 2009.
