Lawrence Tam, PE has diverse work experience in the field of engineering and software development. Lawrence currently works as a Software Engineer at OpenGov Inc. since 2022. Prior to this, Lawrence worked at Conifer from 2022-2022 as a Co-Creator and Software Engineer, where they developed an open-source tool called Conifer that simplified parallelizing Cypress tests on AWS infrastructure. Lawrence also reduced the runtime of the local Cypress test suite through parallelization and optimized test splitting.

From 2021-2022, Lawrence worked as a Software Engineer in an open-source capacity, developing web applications using Node, PostgreSQL, React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Some notable projects include RequestBox, a tool for inspecting webhooks, and Mello, a Trello-like project management app.

Before their software engineering roles, Lawrence had a background in civil engineering. Lawrence worked at the City of Foster City from 2016-2022, starting as an Assistant Engineer and eventually becoming an Associate Civil Engineer. Lawrence also gained experience as an Assistant Civil Engineer at the City of Menlo Park in 2015 and as an Engineering Technician/Inspector at the Town of Moraga from 2013-2015.

Lawrence began their career as a Public Works Intern at the City of Foster City in 2011 and later served as a Volunteer Building & Safety Intern at the City of Milpitas in the same year. Overall, Lawrence Tam, PE possesses a range of skills and experiences in both engineering and software development.

Lawrence Tam, PE has a diverse education history. Lawrence attended Launch School from 2021 to 2022, where they studied Full-Stack Software Engineering. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University, from 2006 to 2011.

In addition to their academic background, Lawrence Tam has obtained certifications to further enhance their professional qualifications. In 2018, they earned the Professional Engineer designation from the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. This qualification showcases their expertise in the field. Furthermore, in 2012, Lawrence obtained the Engineer-In-Training Certification, also from the same institution, which demonstrates their commitment to continuous professional development and growth.
