Matthew Athey began their career in 2014 as a Lifeguard at Cunningham Falls State Park, where they were expected to perform basic duties such as maintaining diligent focus during active watch and training throughout the week. In 2015, they took on the role of Field Support Technician at the Office of Technical Services at Towson University. In 2017, they worked as a Pathways Summer Intern for the US Army, where they were awarded a Certificate of Achievement by Col. for aiding in supplying over 150 government employees with new Samsung Galaxy devices and completing other various IT tasks and inventory tracking. Currently, Matthew is employed as a System Software Developer at OpenPath Products, where they are responsible for full stack development, updating UI, optimizing server logic, database management, and customer support.

Matthew Athey attended Towson University from 2014 to 2018, where they studied Computer Science. In June 2015, they obtained a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard certification from Red Cross CPR/Lifeguarding.
