OpenPSM understands the importance of reliable, evidence-based operational assurance. Industrial operations rely on people, systems and technology working together with clarity and purpose. When organisations understand how work is actually done, they can make better decisions, reduce uncertainty and maintain trust with stakeholders.

Operational assurance gives leaders a dependable basis for oversight, improvement and resilience. By placing evidence at the centre, they can apply risk controls, safety measures and secure behaviours consistently. Leaders can act with confidence, so that teams feel supported to do the right thing and organisations are better equipped to prevent major incidents and sustain safe, reliable performance over time.

For leadership and compliance -

Leaders need clear, defensible assurance that risk controls are functioning in practice, not just in policy. By grounding oversight in observable evidence, organisations can demonstrate alignment with regulatory expectations, strengthen governance and provide stakeholders with confidence in their operational integrity. It becomes easier to prioritise resources, focus on genuine risk and stand behind decisions when challenged. Operational assurance gives leadership a transparent view of performance, enabling responsible management of major hazards and cyber-physical risks with clarity, confidence and credibility.

For operations and culture -

Operational assurance supports teams in doing work the right way; consistently, safely and without unnecessary complexity. Highlighting what works well and where support is needed builds a learning culture, encouraging openness, strengthening behaviours and reducing variation in practice. The focus is on improvement, not blame, ensuring people feel trusted and equipped to deliver safe and secure operation every day. This clarity promotes shared ownership, better conversations and more effective collaboration between functions, sites and disciplines.
