Daniel Ingalls

Daniel Ingalls is an accomplished computer scientist and engineer with extensive experience in live coding and software development. As the Principal Investigator at Y Combinator Research since April 2016, Ingalls has continued advancing the Lively project by creating live-linked worlds for designer notebooks. Previously, Ingalls served as EVP at SAP, where contributions to the Lively kernel facilitated improved live coding for researchers and end-users. Ingalls has a rich history with Sun Microsystems as a Distinguished Engineer, where the Lively Kernel was invented, and has played key roles in various organizations, including Walt Disney Imagineering and Apple Computer. In addition to a B.A. in Physics from Harvard University and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Ingalls's influence in the development of Smalltalk and the Squeak system is noteworthy.
