Sylvain Bauza

Sylvain Bauza has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple companies and industries. Sylvain began their career as a Research Intern at INRIA in 2004, where they worked until 2005. Sylvain then joined Icatis as a Research Engineer from 2005 to 2006.

Following this, Sylvain joined Yahoo! in 2006 as a Service Engineer. During their time at Yahoo!, they were responsible for the deployment and support of various Yahoo! applications, ensuring the quality of service and addressing any technical issues that arose. Sylvain worked extensively with technologies such as Linux, PHP, MySQL, and Apache.

In 2010, Sylvain moved to LiTii as an Engineering Manager. In this role, they led software development for a web product and provided technical guidance to the team. Sylvain also handled operations, led the CI/CD implementation, and mentored the team on implementation choices.

From 2011 to 2013, Sylvain worked at Digimind as an Exploitation and Production Manager. During this time, they gained experience in management and was responsible for overseeing production activities.

In 2013, Sylvain joined Bull as an OpenStack Software Engineer in the Expertise Center. Their work involved contributing to both XLCloud and OpenStack projects, particularly focusing on PaaS use-cases. Sylvain was a core committer and reviewer on the Climate project, and their work included leveraging technologies such as Python, Git, and Rest.

In 2014, Sylvain joined Red Hat as a Senior Software Engineer. Sylvain became a key contributor to the OpenStack project, specifically in the Nova (Compute) project. Sylvain served as a maintainer and approver of the Nova project, validating designs and leading the team as the Nova Project Team Leader since September 2021.

Currently, Sylvain continues their work with OpenStack at OpenStack, where they hold various roles, including being a Nova Project Team Leader, Nova Core Contributor, and Individual Contributor.

Throughout their career, Sylvain has demonstrated expertise in Python development, OpenStack projects, Git, and various other technologies.

Sylvain Bauza's education history includes a variety of degrees and certifications. In 2000, they received a DUT (Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie) in IT, Networks, and Telecoms from Université Pierre Mendès-France (Grenoble II). From 2002 to 2005, Sylvain pursued an MS (Master of Science) in Computer Science and Networks at Ecole Polytechnique Universitaire de Grenoble. Later, in 2004-2005, they pursued an MS Research degree in Computer Software and Systems at Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble I). In addition to their degrees, Sylvain obtained certification in ITIL v3 Foundation in April 2010.
