Mary-Kate Smitherman

Mary-Kate Smitherman is a seasoned communications professional currently serving as the Senior Director of Global Communications at OpenTable since November 2024. Prior to this role, Mary-Kate held the position of Senior Director of Communications at Oatly, leading external relations in the North American market from July 2021 to October 2024. At Derris, where Mary-Kate was one of the earliest team members, the Managing Director contributed to the growth of the agency to over 80 employees and led various client teams across multiple lifestyle sectors. Previous experience includes roles at Edelman, Newsweek, and CBS News, showcasing a strong background in client counsel and communications strategies. Mary-Kate earned a BA in Communications from Indiana University Bloomington in 2008, along with a study at Lorenzo de' Medici in 2007.
