Shaz Ali has significant work experience in various technical and leadership roles in the technology industry.
Starting in 2004, Shaz began their career at Rackspace Hosting as a Lead Enterprise Engineer.
In 2007, Shaz worked as a Technical Design Authority at Vodafone before transitioning to Telefónica as a Network Designer, where they stayed until 2012.
From 2012 to 2013, Shaz worked as a Senior Infrastructure Architect at Norges Bank Investment Management.
In 2013, Shaz joined Google as the Head of On-Prem Infrastructure but left in 2014 to take on the role of VP, Technical Services at Ignite Technologies.
Shaz then moved on to become the Head of DevOps at Cognito iQ in 2016 before joining O2 (Telefónica UK) later that year. At O2, they served as the Head of Technical Services and later as the Head of Engineering for Digital Products. Their responsibilities included leading software engineering teams and overseeing the development of MyO2, Priority, and O2 Drive.
After leaving O2 in 2021, Shaz briefly worked as the CTO at OpenUK before joining Amazon. At Amazon, their first role was as a Systems Development Manager from 2021 to 2021.
Currently, Shaz works as a Software Development Manager at Amazon, where they are involved in building and scaling resilience tooling for Prime Video. Their responsibilities include optimizing CPU utilization, developing predictive request routing algorithms, implementing large-scale testing modifications, and leading the transition of Prime Video's infrastructure to Public AWS.
Shaz Ali obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Kingston University in the years 1999 to 2003. Later, in 2011 and 2012, they pursued a Master's degree in Network and Information Security, again at Kingston University.
