Brittainy Brown is currently a Development Assistant at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. Brittainy previously worked as a line cook at Brasserie by Niche from April 2016 to March 2020, a host at Retreat Gastropub from January 2015 to December 2016, and an Institutional Advancement Officer at Urban Prep Academies from November 2011 to September 2014, where they were responsible for writing grant proposals, tracking donor information, donor communication and acknowledgment, event planning, and social media management. Brittainy also interned at Urban Prep Academy in January 2011 and December 2011, researching and compiling testing and demographic information about various municipal school districts. From September 2009 to February 2011, they served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Vision Literary Magazine, where they reviewed and edited all poetry and fiction submissions, conceptualized designs for the cover and individual works, organized mixers and poetry slams to increase submissions and readership, and solicited writers and artists for contributions. As Artistic Editor, they implemented artist features to spotlight student talent, diversified magazine content by including work from students across Chicago, and increased readership by 20%.
Brittainy Brown is a Northwestern University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies and English.
