Riccardo Gherardi

Riccardo Gherardi is a Principal Scientist at OPPO since May 2021, specializing in mobile-friendly computer vision and deep learning algorithms, with a focus on heterogeneous camera systems and synthetic data generation. Previously, Riccardo served as a Senior Applied Scientist at Amazon Lab126, concentrating on deep scene segmentation and action recognition, and as an Applied Scientist at Amazon, where contributions to computer vision technologies aimed at transforming retail were made. Prior experience includes a role as a Research Engineer at Toshiba, specializing in 3D reconstruction and machine inspection, where Riccardo received the Toshiba Research Outstanding Achievement Award for work related to the Fukushima disaster recovery. Riccardo began a research career as a Research Associate at the University of Verona, following academic achievements including a PhD and Master’s degree in Computer Vision and Computer Science, respectively.
